Yes. VocabBondhuis free to use forever. We plan to help cover hosting, storage, and ongoing improvements with non-intrusive Google AdSense advertising, though no ads run today — we haven't been approved yet. There is no premium tier.

No. VocabBondhu generates an anonymous identifier the first time you open the app and stores it locally on your device. That identifier saves your progress on our server so it follows you across visits — but it is not linked to any name, email, or phone number.

Every time you mark a word as “I Know This” or “Still Learning”, the choice is saved both to your browser's local storage (so the app works offline) and to our server (so it survives cache clears as long as your anonymous ID is still on the device).

From four established academic sources: the New General Service List (Browne & Culligan, 2013), Coxhead's Academic Word List (2000), Paquot's Academic Keyword List (2010), and UEfAP's Subject-Specific lists by Andy Gillett. Each is used with the original author's written permission. See the About page for full citations.

Bengali translations, definitions, and example sentences were generated with the help of AI. We work to keep them accurate and improve them based on user reports — mistranslations are possible, so please tell us when you spot one and we'll fix it. Definitions for NGSL-tagged words come from Browne & Culligan's authoritative list.

Audio is generated with Microsoft Edge Text-to-Speech using the en-US Jenny Neural voice. American English is the most widely-spoken global standard. If we add additional voices in the future you'll be able to choose.

The small green NGSL badge marks words that are part of the New General Service List — roughly the 2,809 most useful general English words. If you're short on time, prioritise words with the NGSL badge regardless of which category you're in.

VocabBondhuuses the SM-2 spaced-repetition algorithm — the same algorithm Anki and SuperMemo use. Words you know are shown less often; words you forget are shown more often. You don't need to think about it — just use the app daily and the schedule looks after itself.

A React Native mobile app for Android and iOS is built but not yet published to the Play Store / App Store. The web version (this site) is fully responsive and works very well in mobile browsers in the meantime.

The web app caches some content for offline use, but full offline support is only guaranteed in the mobile app (coming soon). On a flaky connection the website degrades gracefully — recently-visited word pages may still be readable.

Bulk download is not currently offered. The word lists are used under permission from their original authors and are not licensed for redistribution. If you need a specific subset for an educational or research project, please contact us with details.

Please email us with the word, what you saw, and a brief explanation of the correction. We aim to action well-formed reports within a few working days.

No identifiable user data is collected — there's nothing personal to share. Cloudflare (hosting) is active today; Google AdSense (ads) and Google Analytics (traffic analysis) are planned but not yet enabled. Each has its own privacy practices, described in our Privacy Policy.

The web and mobile apps are free for personal educational use. You may not republish or redistribute the data. See our Terms of Service.

Subject Specific contains vocabulary for a number of fields (Health Sciences, Computer Science, Business, Criminal Law, Music, Mathematics, etc.). Within Browse you can filter by Subject to focus on just one field. If a field is sparse it's because the source list had fewer entries for that field — not a bug.

Any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) on desktop, tablet, or mobile. The site is built with progressive enhancement, so older browsers can still read the content even if some interactive features are limited.

The best support is to tell a friendwho's learning English. Word of mouth in classrooms and study groups is how educational resources actually spread. If you spot errors and report them via the Contact page you're also directly improving the data for everyone.
